To my PSU friends: In the ongoing discussion of the culpability of AD Curley and VP Schultz it seems as if two camps have developed. This constitutes my complete argument on behalf of the beleaguered AD and VP and thus PSU based on as much evidence as is available.
Perhaps the major difference is generational in our initial reaction to the idea of man and boy in shower. Perhaps we differ in our opinion of the competence of police over university administrators. But this is a serious defense of PSU in the person of it's administrators and the reasonableness of assuming that JS should have been stopped in 2001.

This could really change everything for PSU in the Sandusky case. and this should truly concern all PSU alumni, students, and supporters. Court paperwork filed Monday, by prosecutors says the alleged sexual incident McQueary claims to have seen between Sandusky and a young boy in a locker room shower didn’t actually happen the Friday before spring break in 2002. It happened Feb. 9, 2001, about 13 months earlier. This puts at least part of the case beyond the statute of limitations.

Rhythm Method?

How about an over the top take on the rhythm of the Grand Jury Presentment while we celebrate the new year? Because It seems so strange that Joe Paterno would be in this current predicament because of a couple of 2 second glances and the "Rhythmic Slapping Sounds that led Mike McQueary to suspect sexual activity"? I am not trying to make light of the clever, evil, and devious Sandusky and the horror of his sick actions.
I believe the Attorney General and the Governor have a lot of explaining to do as it turns out. Joe and the good people of Penn State have paid the price for the misleading false statements in the Grand Jury presentment authored by the Attorney General's office. Her press release was another study in totally misleading overstatement and we haven't even gotten to that absurdity but we will. But this week I've Got RHYTHM to discuss.

My most concise overview based on all available evidence after the Perjury Hearing on Friday Dec 16th - an attempt to boil down my obese verbiage into it's basic essence. Toss out everything else I've written - this is the whole story in as small a nutshell as I can make it - from the outsider in Tennessee. There is NO PSU Sex Scandal.

If the Grand Jury Presentment had simply accurately described Mike McQueary's testimony as "strong suspicion of sexual activity based on a brief glance in the shower and some slapping sounds" do you think Joe and PSU would have suffered this vilification? That is the first question you need to answer.

The Q & A is done by Mr Beemer for the prosecution, Ms Roberto for Tim Curley, and Mr Farrell for Mr Schultz. I have taken the time to give you key parts of the 250 page testimony if you don't have the time to read the whole thing.

In my view Mike McQueary makes a terrible witness for the prosecution against both Mr. Sandusky and Mssrs. Curley and Schultz. His beliefs are strong but his actual observations do not merit his beliefs.

I find the Attorney Generals website featuring the Attorney General's Press Release on the Sandusky case is a study in misrepresentation of facts and truth.
We should blame this misrepresentation on an overzealous prosecutor in charge of the Grand Jury investigation for the language in the Grand Jury Presentment that was laughably wide of the mark in it's misleading description of the testimony of Mike McQueary. The Press Release by Attorney General Linda Harris leaves no doubt that the intentionally distorted Finding of Fact in the Presentment was a product of the woman in charge.

This Sunday morning I am very happy for my new friends here at BSD and PSU. The probability that the entire Victim 2 March 1, 2002 incident is much like what I've speculated in two earlier fan posts seems very close to a reality. If this is true Joe Paterno and PSU will be totally vindicated and a lot of stone throwers will be wearing their morning eggs as a facial mask.

It is interesting to see the people who have such superior moral character when compared to Joe Paterno, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz. Those mostly anonymous comment givers, media members, and letter writers who seem so certain of their ability to have made a difference in the days following March 1, 2002. How did 3 men of such weak character rise to such positions of responsibility at Penn State? I am struck by what I see as a common thread in the comments of those who write to scold or condemn Joe Paterno, or Curley or Schultz or all three. They seem to have an unshakable moral compass that tells them what they would have done that these three men failed to do some 9 years ago.

Use Occam's Razor and decide for yourself the most likely truth but don't rush to judge based on the little we know about the events of March 1, 2002 and their aftermath. Remember that Joe Paterno, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz along with Mike McQueary had no 40 count report in advance of their involvement in these events. I hope my continued interest in following and trying to dissect this situation as an outsider does not cause any concern here on BSD. The deeper I get into this the angrier I get at the treatment of Paterno and Penn State at the hands of the Mark May's, Gregg Doyle's, ESPN and the rest.

I am a 65 year old Tennessee graduate and fan who's only ties to Pennsylvania was a year spent in Sayer, Pa in 2002. My father was a Judge and political figure in Tennessee and I attended law school there for a time. Dad was a past president of the UT Alumni Association and I know something about the love of a university and it's football program. I know first hand how those institutions can sometimes protect themselves to the detriment of others but I do not believe that is what was happening in State College in the wake of Jerry Sandusky
Perhaps some people can dismiss those who object to what is being touted in the national press from PSU alumni and students as misplaced loyalty but they can't dismiss it from an outsider on those terms. I have no ties or particular love for PSU or JoePa. But I am appalled at the knee jerk reactions of much of the media and political figures who have created a rush to judgment of Mike McQueary and Joe Paterno and the good people at PSU.
